Oceanside’s Virtual Voice Village Celebration
On May 24th, 2007 at Oceanside Middle School in Parksville, B.C. a celebration tea was held for the friends, family and teachers of the students who entered the SET-BC Virtual Voices Village Writing Contest. It was a tremendous success. Jane Rondow and Paul Hamilton Attended form SET-BC, Candice Morgan, District #69 Superintendent and our principal, Brain Nikula were also present.
Some of the students read their compositions out loud to the group. They did a fabulous job and there was much applause. Everyone was presented a special gift from SET-BC, this included Flash Drives for two of the students, Evan L, second overall participant, and Lucas F, second overall written composition in B.C.

We were treated to many delicious treats and drinks that were prepared by some of the students, assisted by Martha Holmes. The families enjoyed their time with us and we enjoyed the visit.

Here is an interview with a proud parent, Mr. Viau whose two boys won awards, James Beer and Jacob Beer:
James: Why did you come to the tea?
Mr. Viau: I came to support my sons.
James: How did you feel about the tea?
Mr. Viau: I wouldn’t have missed it for the world.
James: What was your favorite part?
Mr. Viau: When my sons went up to receive their awards and of course the butter tarts James made. I am happy there is support through computers for my sons learning.
