Katie (Invermere)

My name is Kate.  I am twelve years old and I go to school in Invermere, B.C.  The disability I have is called cerebral palsy.  When I was born my lungs collapsed as I swallowed a thick substance.  It left me with trouble walking.

My dream for the future is to be a writer.  I have always loved books and listening to adults read to me.  I have met an author named Trina Weibe.  My sister reads her books.    I want to be able to read my stories that I write to little kids.  I also like writing about my life at school.  It is my wish to write things that make people laugh.  I think if I put a lot of humour in my writing I could get a lot of people laughing.  I already wrote a story for my Grade Five teacher.  It was called Mrs. Obnoxious 2.  Mrs. Obnoxious is a made up character but some of the other people in it were real.  I have a plan to write personal stories for some people in my life while I’m still in school.  The best part for them is I will give them to them for free. It doesn’t matter to me if my writing is going to get me rich or not.  I just like to write to make people feel happy.
