Dusty's Entry: A Story

Once upon a time there was a beautiful teenager and she wasn’t perfect and everybody knew that, but when a when horrible thing happened she would never forget.  Her father died and her mother did too, so she opened the will and saw her father’s last wishes. His one final wish was for Danyell to go to public high school.  So just before she was to start high school she went legally blind.  Only one person looked out for her and her name was Rain. 

On Friday November 21, Rain (her friend) ran down the streets screaming “I got in the 2010 Winter Olympics”.

As Rain arrived at Danyell’s house very excited, Danyell’s first response was “Congratulation”. Danyell said that she wished that there was a Winter Olympic Sports for Legally Blind people.

“Hold on one minute” said Rain.

Rain jumped and skipped to the house and ran into Danyell’s room.  As Rain typed away on the computer she whispered evilly

“Here we go” said Rain.

Rain printed of something, but she would not show Danyell.  Call me in exactly one week and I’ll open it, alrighty!!!!

One week later Danyell called Rain and waited and waited until she heard the magical words saying “I’m hear”

Rain opens the envelope and made a sad face, Danyell asked her what was wrong.  Rain’s frown changed to a big smile.  We have to compete against each other in the 2010 Olympics.  Danyell cried “What, Why.

You know how you said that you wished that there was a sport in the Winter Olympic for blind people, your going Danyell!!!

“Oh Bunny Rabbits” cried Danyell.

“I’m going to the Winter Games?” said Danyell.

On December 1st, Danyell packed her bags and walked to the bus and sat next to an older guy (he snored really loud for you information).  As soon as she arrived at the Winter Olympic Village, she noticed that the running event that she was in was to start right away. She quickly changed into her running outfit and won this event.  In fact she won three gold medals.

On the last day there was going to be more games and almost everybody was there to watch.  Rain was standing right up front cheering on Danyell.  An unexpected thing happened; the lights in the stadium went out. (Or something)

Rain noticed something was wrong and ran down.

“What’s wrong Danyell?” asked Rain.

“The lights went out” said Danyell.

“How many fingers am I holding up?” asked Rain.

Danyell only answer was twelve.  Rain said sadly I think you have gone blind Danyell. Rain grabbed her white cane, with the moldy marshmallow tip. 

This race was for whoever wins the fun race placing first or second got to be in the Luge .

Danyell got second place in that competition.  Then a news reporter came and asked “Why do you love running so much?”

Danyell response was “I like the wind blowing through my hair”.

Danyell crossed her fingers and asked if she had won the I-pod. She had not only won the I-pod, but she had also won the respect of other kids.  Danyell was never picked on again.   This is the story of being blind, so be nice.
