John's Entry

The Hockey Game

I woke up early in the morning and got out of my bed. I walked to my calendar to see what day it was. I look at the calendar and I realize that it is only one day until I start to play hockey in the 2010 Olympics. I feel so exited I can hardly wait. I rush to the kitchen and make myself breakfast. In the afternoon I call some of my friends over to my house to practice some shots on the goalie, which is me. This helps me practice making as many saves as I can. I want to be the most famous hockey goalie in the world.

Team Canada Goalie John Aviso

The team I play with is team Canada. When I was a kid I used to always dream of lots of people cheering and calling my name, because I was the most famous hockey goalie in the world. After my friends and I were finished practicing I went back inside my house and my friends went home to see there family. When I went inside my house I made dinner and then I went to bed.

That night I couldn’t sleep so I turned on the television and I fell fast asleep. I had a dream where I was in the hockey rink with my team playing the game. Everyone was mad at us and they started to shout at us yelling we are the worst hockey team in the world.

I felt confused and scared at the same time. I kept on telling myself this is not happening, we are supposed to win the hockey game. The dream ended as a nightmare because my team lost the game. During the night I woke up all scared and hot. It was nearly morning, but I was glad I was able to get some rest before the great game we were about to play. Loosing the game made me feel scared and worried. In the afternoon the bus took us to GM Place. As I was getting dressed I was thinking of all the bad things that may happen during the game. I had a feeling that we were going to win no matter what with a lot of faith in that we were going to win. When we were walking out on to the ice I saw that other players were big and strong. I told my team mates that we will beat them even if they are big and strong, but we are more skilled.

The game was very hard and the other team is leading by one. There was only ten seconds left and then there was eight, at the last second one of my team players had scored an easy goal. I yelled and screamed with excitement.  I wasn’t really exited yet, more worried, because it means that is now overtime (overtime means that the two teams are going to play another quarter and the team who scores the goal is the winner of the game). We were still on a tie in the first overtime. There was only thirty seconds left in the second overtime. I saw that one of my teammates was skating like lightning to the other goalie, he took a shot, but a player on the other team had hooked him from behind making him crash into the goalie.

I felt really sad , I started yelling at the referee foul, but he announced a hooking penalty. My teammate took a penalty shot on the other team’s goalie. He brought it to the left, then the right then, he shoots and he SCORES!!! Everyone screamed and yelled hurray for team Canada .When the announcer had told everyone that we had won the game. Our team shook hands with the other team, and said good game, we went to the middle of the rink to get our trophies. I laughed and said to myself we weren’t bad after all.

I invited my teammates over to my house for a celebration. We all laughed and talked and watched television. When everyone was tired and sleepy they went home happy and proud for having done so well. For fun, I thought that it would be nice to sleep with my hard won trophy.
