Virtual Voices Village Digital Publishing Contest
Contest Rules & Regulations
The Virtual Voices Village Digital Publishing Contest is produced by Special Education Technology-British Columbia (SET-BC) and supported in part by 2010 Legacies Now, and 3M. SET-BC is the exclusive producer and administrator of the contest. By submitting an entry for the contest, each entrant unconditionally agrees to be bound by the rules and the decisions of the producer, which shall be final and binding in all respects. Failure to comply with the rules will result in an automatic disqualification of the entrant from the contest.
WHO CAN ENTER:
This contest is open to all Canadian students with disabilities enrolled in grades K-12 and who use technology to write and/or create or record audio, visual or multimedia artwork. The entrant will need to obtain written permission from his/her parent/guardian. This can be done by completing the consent form and mailing it to SET-BC.
HOW TO SUBMIT ENTRIES:
For written entries, e-mail to submissions@vvvillage.org. For visual art submissions, save artwork created with technology as a jpeg or tiff file with a minimum 300 dpi. For other artwork, take a digital photograph and e-mail the file to submissions@vvvillage.org. If contestants do not have access to a digital camera, a photo print can be mailed to SET-BC. Send multimedia files as an email attachment. If your email attachment is more than 5 mb, please upload your files on a service like http://sendspace.com and make sure the recipient is submissions@vvvillage.org
CONDITONS OF ENTRY:
All entries are subject to verification and will be declared invalid if they are not original by the writer/artist, or falsified in any way. The entry must be composed by and be the original work of the entrant, and must not violate the rights of any third party.
SELECTION PROCESS:
The potential winner(s) will be selected from eligible entries received by the contest closing deadline. Top prizes will be awarded in “Gold” “Silver” “Bronze” Categories. All participants will receive recognition. Judging panel will be comprised of SET-BC staff members and former students to be determined.
PRIVACY:
By entering the Contest and voluntarily providing personal information, including, but not limited to the entrant's and parent/legal guardian's names, addresses, ages, (collectively, the "Entrant Information"), the entrant and his or her parent/legal guardian consent and agree to the Producers' collection and use of the Entrant Information solely to administer the Contest. The consent of the entrant and his or her parent/legal guardian to the Producers' use of Entrant Information may be revoked at any time (which will also revoke the entrant's participation in the Contest or impair the chances of winning) by writing to: SET-BC/Virtual Voices Village-Digital Publishing Contest, c/o: SET-BC-#105-1750 West 75 Avenue Vancouver, BC, V6P 6G2. All entries become the property of the producers and will not be acknowledged or returned. No correspondence will be entered into except with the selected entrants and individuals requesting a copy of the Rules.
LIMITATION OF LIABILITY:
The Released Parties shall have no liability for any damage or loss arising from the entrant's and/or his or her parent's/legal guardian's participation in the Contest and/or in connection with the acceptance and/or use or misuse of the prizes or any element thereof. The Released Parties accept no responsibility for lost, delayed, damaged or misdirected entries or for any failure of the internet message centre, postal mail delivery or fax message centre during the Promotional Period, for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone, internet, fax network or lines, or any combination thereof including any injury or damage to an entrant's or any other person's computer related to or resulting from accessing, playing or downloading any material in connection with the Contest. The Producers reserve the right, in their sole discretion to cancel or suspend this Contest should a virus, bug or other cause beyond the reasonable control of the Producers corrupt the security or proper administration of the Contest.
The Released Parties shall have no liability whatsoever for any situation in which their inability to act results from an event or situation beyond their control, including a strike, lockout or any other labour dispute.
LEGAL:
This Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws. Any attempt to deliberately damage any telephone line or website or to undermine the legitimate operation of this promotion is a violation of criminal and civil laws, and should such an attempt be made, the Producers reserve the right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law, including criminal prosecution.
The Producers retain the right, in their sole discretion, to terminate, amend or alter the rules of the Contest at any time without notice for any reason whatsoever.
