Trevor's Journey with Wheelchair Rugby

January 2010

Travels with Timmy

Trevor Hirschfield, a graduate from Ballenas Secondary School and a former SET-BC student, is also an accomplished paralympic athlete.  He plays on our National Wheelchair Rugby Team and is known for his offensive strength.  He helped his team win a bronze medal at the 2008 Beijing Games.  Wheelchair Rugby is an aggressive, strategic, fast moving, and hard hitting sport - click to see a picture of his team and to learn more about rugby

Trevor’s mom, Marilyn, has created a presentation to show how Trevor came to play Wheelchair Rugby.  This presentation showcases his struggles and his triumphs both in the sport and in his personal life.  Outside of his sport, he likes to swim and play ball hockey to keep active.  Trevor’s Tip for you:  If you are in a wheelchair, pursue active living and get involved with a wheelchair sport; if you’re able bodied, try a wheelchair sport as an alternative!

Trevor appeared in a Vancouver Sun article and is highlighted on the Act Now BC website
